What are the uses of the deep sea water?

Commonly, the ocean water is observed in the shores where people bathe under the heat of the sun or during night time. The alternative use of the ocean water have not been thought to be used for drinking until it was discovered that deep ocean water can be used for commercial uses. It only needs to be desalinized to have a significant use for the industry. Currently, there have been discovered uses of the deep ocean waters:
1. Cooling systems: There have been some ideas about using the deep sea water as a cooling agent for buildings. This will ultimately save a company an annual cooling expense of $750,000. The cooling water is derived from a cooling well drilled into the ground near the shore. The drilling will require a 16 inch in diameter hole to be drilled through the ground passing the fresh water aquifer.

The water will have to be at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit to have a cooling effect on the building. The exchange will produce warm sea water that will be then used for the aquatic tanks for sea creatures. This will not only be efficient in terms of the utilization of water but also efficient in cutting expensive costs for the companies.

2. Alternative to the drinking water: There have been some issues regarding the limited supply of fresh water. The issues are that there is the rapid depletion of fresh water which is also used as potable water (air conditioning). There will be a shortage of fresh water if rapid used is continued for a very long period of time.

As an alternative, drawing out water from the deep recesses of the ocean is a project supported by Hawaii-the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA), which was originally provided to research about the energy derived from mixing cold and warm water to produce steam. This alternative is a little expensive compared to the fresh water, but soon, it will be as cheap as the water tapped from the main water line. For the meanwhile, the water is bottled to be sold as health water, and some other various uses of desalinated and ocean water.

3. Disaster relief projects: There are some instances where there are areas affected by some form of disaster like flood and typhoon. These situations may require water to be provided for survival of the victims. Since fresh water is a very scarce resource, the government may result in the retrieval of the desalinized water to be given to the victims of the disasters.

4. Water replenishment in drought affected areas: In drought affected areas, water is either depleted or to be retrieved from a very distant area. The only way that these areas need to be replenished with water is to have the water delivered to them in containers. These delivered reliefs can be the waters tapped from the deep ocean, which contains a lot of minerals to supplement the bodily needs of the affected.

5. Medicinal: Medicinal purposes have been sought after the deep ocean waters. One of the medicinal achievements that were retrieved from the deep ocean water is the daily dietary supplements. The deep ocean water is rich in nutrients like trace minerals. These minerals are needed by the body daily to function properly. Harvesting these minerals will entail the extraction of the minerals from the deep ocean water. Since there are some minerals that are mostly abundant in the ocean, selling these supplements will mean low prices for the maximum affordability.

6. Aqua culture: In aqua culture, there are some sea creatures like shrimp culture that thrive when they are fed with the fresh ocean water. This ocean water can be harvested to benefit the raising of these sea creatures, which are vital for the quality of the product. Acquisition of this water will also mean more expensive sea products but the products raised in this mineral rich water are healthy, clean, and will produce more yield.
